Question: does anyone know this number system on the defensive line?
the coach was telling us it yesterday in practice it went something like
left and right
1 to 1.1 to 2 like that to 4 and depending what number is called tell you what position like shadow or left or right
has anybody heard of this? i know where i play im usually going against a tackle
Answer: Your coach is probably referring to your defensive line shades. The left to right is most likely just letting you know that the first number being called is the shade of the defensive tackles on the left side and the second number is for the tackle on the right side, the shades for both sides are as followed:
1 shade - outside shoulder of the center
2 shade - inside shoulder of the guard
3 shade - outside shoulder of the guard
4 shade - inside should of the tackle
5 shade - outside shoudler of the tackle
