Question: Trout Fishing ?
When I am sing that powerbait dough stuff for trout in particular, how do I use it? Does it float on the surface and I just let it float there? Do I use weights and a bobber with it or no, also do i just roll some into a ball and put it on the hook ?
Answer: OK Powerbait is made from the same stuff that they feed trout in hatchery's. that's why it works so good. Ive used powerbait before and It works great. its a miracle bait a trout fisherman should always have in his tackle box. here's ow to rig it.
#1.First off you should use a ultra light rod about 5'-6' for trout in lakes and your line should be no more then 6 pounds. I would use 4 pounds because you can still catch 18 inch trout.
#2. Now slide on a 1/2 once egg sinker onto your line. then tie on a swivel. now on your leader tie 2 hooks yes 2 hooks on your leader. its better because you can use 2 different colors and see which one is working better. your hooks should be single size 6 bait holders because it hooks better.
#3. Now my favorite colors are rainbow, red, green, and yellow. (buy those colors with sparkles)Take the powerbait roll it into a ball and push it onto the hook. make sure none of the hook is sticking out. now take a small amount and rub it on the leader to attract more fish.

Question: Where can I find float blanks for fishing to make my own bobbers?
Answer: I don't think I've ever seen "blanks" being sold, but it is very easy to turn your own custom balsa fishing floats. It's easy to get started and most of the materials can be found at your local hobby shop (Balsa, high-vis paint, plastic tubing for slip floats or silicon tubing for fixed floats), bambo skewers from a grocery store (for fixed float stems), and/or your local hardware store (epoxy or poly finish).
I now turn my floats on a lathe and do a whole production set-up to do high volumes, but I started out just turning them on a corded drill placed in a woodworking vice. I used steel mandrels cut from steel rod (hardware store) chucked in the drill and supported on the open end with a piece of wood with a hole in it. No need to get fancy or expensive.

Hi all thanks for advice in advance...
I need to know where im going wrong i've fished for 5days now without landing 1 fish
I've been fishing in a commercial large pond full of carp and all i seem to catch are either cray fish or ducks!
ive tried bollies, corn, bread (which is a nighmare to hook any help would be good), maggots, chopped ham and dog biscuits
ive tried all over the pond and all depths.
This is my set up..
11' rod (all rounder) 2.5lb test curve
8 & 6lb lines tried both
hooks to nylon size 16 - 8
Light floats which take only 3 size 8 shots to large floats taking 4 SSG shots.
Whats am i doing wrong...
and before you say it... yes i do plumb the depth and feed the swim before i cast and i cast futher than i fish and bring the float to the bait slowly.
So any ideas?????
Answer: try hair rigging a pellet over a bed of sinking pellets or you could try hair rigged pellet about a foot under the surface on a loaded crystal waggler. just feed 8-10 sinking pellets every couple of minutes to bring them up in the water. i agree with chimp about the fluro carbon line and the bread nr were they feed the ducks or free lined dog biscuit.

Question: What is a good bait for about 1-10lb catfish up in northern new jersey?
I use worms on a slip sinker rig. Any other better rig that I can use? I fish in a pond and reservoir with little to no current. Lots of bass and sunfish, and I fish from the shore. The whole shore is rip raps with no visible structure in the water
Also, how do I prepare bluegill as cutbait? steaks or 1 inch chunks?Answer: Try small shad, herring, bluefish (yes,bluefish) shiners and bunker. Chop, or cut the fish in half and put it on a small Circle Hook. You can use these baits in all of our rivers, ponds and lakes for catfish. The larger baits you may want to cut into smaller chunks. If you are bothered by the smaller catfish and turtles eating your bait, use a larger bait and up to a # 7 Circle Hook. I've caught 10 lb. channel cats on 13" bunker fishing for stripers. Remember, catfish locate food by scent. Tight lines & catch some big ones!!!

Question: Has anyone ever try fish a slip sinker on a crankbait?
I thought about putting a slip sinker on my line with a crankbait to get it to sink quicker. Will the crankbait still have some of its motion? Has anyone ever tried this ? Let me know how it works
Answer: This is a great technique for when the fishing is tough. But you peg the sinker atleast one foot above the lure, so that it drags on the bottom and stirs up the bottom. It looks like the crankbait is chasing something on bottom, and a nearby bass will see that and pounce on it like a cat on a mouse.
If you are using the weight just to get it down farther, you should try lead tape, or suspend dots. You can get the lead tape at any store with golf equipment,m and you can get suspend dots and/or suspend strips at Basspro.com.

Answer: Depends on where fish are feeding (top or bottom). You can use a sliding sinker and a Treble Hook. The bait will float away from the bottom and wait for unsuspecting fish. You can also use bobbers if fish are feeding near the surface. Bottom line is Powerbait doesn't really adhere to single hooks very well. I used to put it on treble hooks with split-shot crimped 2-3 feet above the bait. My goal was to float it off of the lake bottom and my technique works well.

When I am sing that powerbait dough stuff for trout in particular, how do I use it? Does it float on the surface and I just let it float there? Do I use weights and a bobber with it or no, also do i just roll some into a ball and put it on the hook ?
Answer: I ball it up on the hook with a small slip shot sinker about a foot and a half above it to give it casting weight and hold to the bottom while bait floats up a little.
