Question: Is this ok? Fishing minnows and gold fish?
My husband came home the other day from fishing and threw his left over minnows in my aquirium. I have 3 huge goldfish and a footlong algae sucker. Now there are maybe 25 to 30 minnows swimming everywhere. What kind of problems will I have? He said he just wanted to keep them for fishing.
It's a 30 gallon tank. And the fish that I have in there I've had for 4 years. I'm afraid the minnows will cause problems.Answer: The tank is big enough to handle the extra fish. I would be worried about disease. Keep a good eye on them for the next couple of weeks.

Find the Right Fish Tank Accessory for Your Aquarium
When it comes to finding fish tank accessories there is just about everything you can imagine. Deciding what to put into your fish tank to make it look natural or just fun to look at can take a little bit of planning. You also must remember that there are several items that every fish tank needs.
There are three mandatory things that just about ever fish tank needs and these include a filter, a heater and lights. The filter is important because it is the thing that keeps the water in the tank clean and clear. Without a fish tank filter your fish will suffer from disease and even death and the water will turn cloudy and start to smell.
A heater is necessary because in most cases people put tropical fish in their new aquarium. Tropical fish live in warm water and will not live long in water that has big temperature fluctuations. A heater will keep the water temperature constant which tropical fish like best. Remember to get the right size heater for the size of tank you have. The only exception to the heater rule is a gold fish tank. Gold fish can survive in un-heated water.
Lights are important for a couple of reasons. There are fish that need the extra light to help them thrive and survive. This is especially true in salt water tanks that have corals and anemones. Lights also add to the beauty of the tank, bringing out the colors of the fish and other accessories you may have.
Once you have those three things taken care of how you choose to accessorize your fish tank is up to you. This is a personal decorating choice because for the most part any fish tank accessory you add is there to decorate the tank; they do have a few benefits to the fish.
If you have a community tank with different sized fish it makes sense to provide accessories that provide hiding areas for the smaller fish. With the right selection you can set up your fish tank much like your fishes natural habitat. This will give them the opportunity to interact with their environment just as they would in the wild.
If you are setting up a Cichlid tank then you need to be aware that many Cichlids do not take kindly to to much decoration. They will push rocks around, dig holes in the gravel, and tear up plants that you may put in their tank. If you insist on putting accessories in a Cichlid tank just be forewarned that it may be redecorated the next day.
Finding the right fish tank accessory or accessories is all up to you and what you want your aquarium to look like. Keep in mind that a more natural look will enhance the fish you have and their ability to live like they would in their natural habitat.

Question: What happens to all the bass fish caught during competitive bass fishing tournaments?
I've watched several bass tournament shows and those guys catch a LOT of fish for competition. What happens to the fish afterwards? It's not like I see a lot of fish specials in restaurants and supermarkets after the event.
Answer: I fish alot of BASS and FLW tournaments every year. Fish care is our main priority. We don't want the fish getting injured any more than they have to. They are kept in airated live wells through the day and then released back into the lake after they are weighed in and are only out of the water for seconds at a time. Very few fish die and we are penalized by a lowered overall weight for each fish that dies, which insures that we make every possible effort to keep them alive and well.

Question: Ever had a scary encounter when fishing?
I do a lot of fishing in shallow streams for trout. I've walked some streams for miles when the water level is down far enough. Sometimes I wear waders, but sometimes I just put on some water shoes or flip-flops? Does anyone do something similar? I'm curious to hear what people have encountered while doing this. I came across a very large Snapping Turtle recently that I was lucky to see before I almost stepped on it.
Answer: I was motoring along in my 12 foot car top with a buddy, we were fishing for cod fish in Conception Bay, Newfoundland, suddenly our boat was flipped over, I caught a glance of a big blue fin tuna as we went into the water, the outboard prop must have nicked it. When I came up my buddy was not to be seen, I managed to get up on top the overturned boat and stood up to get a better view, my pal was about two feet below the surface and he was ram rod straight, I slipped back into the water and reached down to get a grip on him but I could only reach the top of his head, he had a brush cut so I could not get a handful of hair, I held the gunnel of the boat and managed to get two of my fingers into his nostrils and gently lifted his head above the water, later he told me he was paralysed with fear, he thought we had been overturned by a shark and he was preparing to die. We were able to hold onto the boat, which had flotation built into the seats, for three hours before we were spotted and picked up by another boater. This is a true story.

Answer: Yes thats fine. Are you female? Reform is liberal, women wear what they like within respectful boundaries, much like you'd see in a church.
If you're male, business suit is fine.
P.S. No, something to cover your head is NOT required at a Reform synagogue. If you're a male and if that particular synagogue would like you to put on a kippah, they will have a box of them inside for you, but it's highly unlikely that they will want you to do that.

Question: Dog helpers, guide dogs?
I see these dogs with little jackets that say helper or assistant, guide dog. Obviously these pets have been through some dogie college and got some masters degree in the field. My question is, do people with these dogs have to carry a license or some sort of registration in case they get hassled about the dog? How do they know the dogs not an impostor and his owner isn't just making him sport the jacket so they can chill at the mall, get into sea world, go get a beer and wings at Hooters? Not that I'm planning all this. I don't even know where to get my dog one of those jackets that say HELPER.
Answer: ADA does not require that one have a license in order to say their dog is assisting them. Many people do have papers that say a dog has passed a course but many do not. The reason is that many dogs do emotional support and not physical things. Please remember if a person says their dog is assisting them you , by law, must assume they are correct. There have been many a law suit because people pushed the person that had a dog to prove it.

Question: Becoming a fishing guide?
I have been fishing all my life. I can't remember a time when I wasn't in, around or on the water. I am coming up on retirement from the Air Force and would love to try my hand at guiding. I know a lot of the waters around my home and there is rarely a day when I go fishing and don't catch what I am after. I am a pretty decent fly-fisherman and have just started dabbling in Saltwater fly fishing, Iraq Deloyment put the kibosh on my summer plans, but I was wondering what I need to do to get started. Any advice?
Answer: In some areas you will need a license and insurance.
If you are using a boat you will also need a captains license(six pack license)
I am not a guide but have read posts about becoming one.

Salmon Fishing On The Kenai River - Adventures Galore For All!
The experience of the Kenai river Salmon Fishing is a great adventure. The (SMA) special management area or the Kenai River fishing habitat has over 150 miles of waterways that includes tributaries, lakes, streams and the main river itself. The larger lakes in this river SMA are skilak lake, Kenai Lake, Both that provides excellent opportunities for Salmon Fishing. The 82 miles long Kenai River empties into Cook Inlet, giving exceptional opportunities for fishing in the fall and spring seasons as the population of fish in those seasons are high.
There are about four to five different varieties of salmon which make the Kenai river fishing challenging and exciting at the very same time. The Coho or Silver salmon, The Sockeye or Red salmon and the Chinook or king salmon are the most numerous, with those Humphries or the pinks less common. Due to the conservation issues these pinks could only be kept only in alternative and even numbered years till the population is built again.
