Question: At what depth does a fish pond become a pool?
At what depth does a fish pond become a pool and need a fence in Australia. A friend has just had her hubby dig a fish pond its 6 feet deep and 5 feet wide and 9 feet long is it safe i think is should have a pool fence
Answer: I would put a fence around it (with a lock) and if it is 6 foot deep everywhere a sturdy ladder to get out of it. Ask your friend and their hubby if they accidentally fell in, how easy would it be to get back out. If they are in an area that has children.....well I don't think I need to go there now do I?

Question: At what depths in a freshwater pond would a fish receive the most available oxygen levels?
If a pond in the winter is not frozen over and oxygen and other gases are able to be dissolved in it, at what depth in the water would fish be able to receive the largest amount of oxygen? Let's say the pond is exactly at sea level.
Answer: The most dissolved oxygen will be nearest the surface. As you get deeper, the oxygen levels will decrease. If there is vegetation in the water, it will emit oxygen. Algae will generate oxygen too.
If the water is very dark (low or no visibility) , the DO levels will drop off.

Question: what fish finder to buy?
I am looking to upgrade my fish finder. I have a lawance x 25. I would like to have something to mark fishing holes and brush piles. Also easy to use and easy to read. I am getting into competition fishing and am finding the finder I have right now is good but could really help if I could keep track of fishing spots and be able to track the grasses and brush piles bettler. Money doesnt really matter. I fish waters mostly 30ft or less but will be fishing up to 60 ft sometimes. I mostly bass fish and I do drop my own structures in local lakes so GPS is almost a must to keep track of were they are. I want something good that will last a long time. some options I am looking for are GPS, Water temp., speed, able to see clear depth and structure on the bottom and possible even maping of lakes. This will only be used for fishing and nothing else. Please help!!! I cant make up my mind.

Question: my humminbird 565 fish finder dose not seam to work properly?
when in normal mode it shows me to be in 800ft of water, then the depth changes back and forth, the screen displays only vertical lines. it is brand new out of the box. dose anyone know what I should do to fix it or what I am doing wrong.
Answer: Check transducer cable for damage (pinched, broken wire). Battery charged to full voltage and solid wiring connections. Are you actually in 800' depth water?!? Could be faulty transducer or head unit. Some of the older Hummingbirds have a "Demo Mode" make sure you are not in that mode.
If you install the transducer on the port side of a Clockwise rotating prop, there is a lot or air bubbles on the up stroke side that could cause problems with the transducer. It's better to stay away from that if possible.From the Hummingbird website:
Erratic Depth (Bottom) Readings
Before trying the following suggestions, if possible, turn your unit on without using any options or selections to see if the problem may be in the way the depth sounder was set up to operate. Turn all features on Auto and/or set all options to "Restore Defaults" using the Setup Menu tab. If possible, check your unit on a friend’s boat that has the same type of unit and model number. This will indicate whether the problem is with the unit or with the accessories, cables and/or installation. If the unit still has the same problem on your friend’s boat, return it along with a letter explaining the problem in detail. If the unit works correctly on your friend’s boat, proceed with the appropriate suggestions below:Remember that the depth sounder measures the depth of water that is below the transducer. The motion of your boat riding up and down on waves can be detected by the depth sounder. Ensure that any variations in depth readings that you are experiencing are not due to the water conditions.
Be sure you are not trying to run two depth sounders at the same time. Using two depth sounders that run on the same frequencies can cause one or both to show incorrect depth readings. Check your Operations Manual for operating frequencies.http://www.humminbird.com/normal.asp?ID=921
