Question: Are baitcasting reels hard to use?
I was thinking about buying one to try it out, I would rather just buy another spinning reel if they are too hard to use.
I'm a pretty experienced fishermen, I've just never tried this type of reel before.Answer: Notice most of the pros use baitcast reels. Once you master casting, and that's the hardest part of learning, you will never go back to spin cast. I disassemble my baitcast reels and clean them every year after the season closes. Some are over 10 years old now. The Ambassadeur 5000 through 10000 series are great because they are easy to tear down and parts are available for repairs.

Question: what type of baitcasting reel should i get for my ugly stick rod?
my ugly stick is a 7 footer, medium to heavy action rod.
im gonna be doing some bass, pike and catfishing what should i getAnswer: Well first off do you know how to use one or is this a first time bait casting reel ?
IF it is your first get something on the cheap side 30 to 40 bucks in case you do not like it. They can be trick to learn to cast with do to having to set the magnetic drag for different bait weights. To light and you can get bad back lash also known as the birds nest a big pain to untangle. To heavy and you get no distance on your casts.
Now if you know how to use one I personally like the Quantum series they have a large variety at all different prices. For the fish you mentioned going for I would want my reel to hold at least 150 yards of 10 pound line. I believe in having more line then you will need you never know how many snags you will get at the loss of so many yards of line.
