Question: My goldfish's fin ripped!!!!?
I moved my goldfish to my dorm today, and I just noticed that part of his back fin is ripped. the little slice is hanging from the back. He is swimming and eating normal, but I am worried. Should I like somehow get that part that is hanging off or should I just leave it. It is a really small, thin piece. Does it hurt him? : ( I was really gentle with him during the move I thought. : (
Answer: I wouldn't worry too much about it at this point. If anywhere down the line it starts to change in any way, then I would have a little concern and start doing some research on what to do. Chances are you won't run in to any problems and you can nickname him "Nemo"
. I can't say that it will ever look perfect again, but if he's healthy, that's all that matters. So just love and adore your "unique" little fish just as if nothing ever happened. I'm sure he's not holding a grudge!! Good luck!! ;o)
EDIT: Some fish are sensitive to aquarium salt (i.e. tetra's), so be careful. Salt has many therapeutic benefits and I use it myself, but you do have to be careful.
